Breath is life...life is beautiful...breathe it in...
I stepped into my first yoga class in 2003 and was instantly hooked! Yoga has kept me centered and has made me appreciate the simple things in life. After benefiting in so many ways from yoga, not only physically but mentally and spiritually, it became my dream to share this wonderful practice with others.
After taking my 200 hour teacher training at From Within Wellness Centre, Edmonton, AB with Priya Dasyam, my dream came true on December 16, 2009 when I received my certification with the Yoga Alliance. I am a registered yoga teacher in traditional Hatha yoga.
I received further training in June 2010 taking my prenatal yoga teacher training with Urban Yoga, in September 2010 taking my kids yoga teacher training with The Yoga Tree, Vancouver and in August 2011 taking my 50 hour yin yoga teacher training with Bernie Clark at the Semperviva Yoga, Vancouver.
I love to teach all different styles of yoga but true to my heart is Yin yoga and kids yoga. In today's lifestyles we are non-stop go go go. Yin Yoga helps you truly be in the present moment and enjoy the stillness of the body, mind and breath. Step out of a Yang world and come to the Yin side!
Kids also have busy lifestyles. Little time to "just be". I enjoy teaching kids and providing tools so that kids can find ways to stay calm, stay healthy, love and respect their bodies, find peace within themselves and of course have lots of fun doing it.
I welcome all students and hope to enlighten each one of you!
Namaste.
My teaching style is aimed at healing and finding that inner peace and love for ones self. Although there are many physical benefits to yoga, my goal is for my students to find self love, contentment, practice healthy yoga and allow their ego to step out of class. Enjoy every moment, with every breath.
To provide tools to students through the practice of yoga so that they can heal and love themselves and let their inner light shine bright.
Growing up on a farm in Saskatchewan, my playground was the trees, water, and open fields. I have always been connected to mother nature and know she has so many healing properties. Even as a little girl, I remember making my own natural concoctions. If I remember correctly, I made a healing ointment out of olive oil, baby oil, random herbs and garlic. Lets just say I never did use it but I was trying.
It wasn't until 2010 when I became really interested in aromatherapy. I started to use essential oils in my home as well in my yoga classes. Students would walk in the studio and immediately feel calm and peaceful. After using the oils for awhile
I had a passion to learn more. In April 2011 I took a 40 hour workshop with Blaine Andrusek, Phytotherapeutics. In August 2012 I successfully completed my 170 hours Aromatherapy 101 with West Coast Institute of Aromatherpy Inc. and I am currently completing my 201 certificate to become a registered Aromatherapist.
I now make my own blends and offer them to you. Discover what nature's little helpers have to offer on or off your yoga mat.
